 r. Kristen Kwan
DESCRIPTION:\n \n \n \n Kristen M. Kwan\, PhD\, Vice Chair for
  Vision Research will be the featured speaker at o
 ur 2026-27 kick-off meeting.  Dr. Kwan will talk a
 bout her path in science and share an overview of 
 her current research.  The Kwan Lab studies the mo
 lecular and cellular mechanisms responsible for gi
 ving the eye its proper 3-dimensional structure\, 
 using zebrafish as a model system and a combinatio
 n of multidimensional imaging\, computational appr
 oaches\, and molecular genetics.  These efforts al
 low us to understand how the eye establishes its n
 ormal shape and how this goes awry in disease.  Dr
 . Kwan is a Professor of Human Genetics and an Adj
 unct Professor in the Department of Ophthalmology 
 & Visual Science.  She received her B.S. from Stan
 ford and her doctorate in cell and systems biology
  from Harvard University.  She has been on the fac
 ulty at the Moran Eye Center since 2015.  Read mor
