Update with Dr. Brian Zaugg - Utah's First Moran Award Recipient

Posted on Wednesday, August 21, 2019

Dr. Brian Zaugg was selected as an ARCS Scholar in 2012 as a resident in ophthalmology at the John A. Moran Eye Center, receiving the chapter's first award outside the College of Engineering.  After completing his training he joined the cornea faculty at the Moran Eye Center. His current practice locations are at the main campus of the University of Utah in Salt Lake City and a satellite clinic in Farmington, Utah. Research continues to be an important part of his practice. His resume now includes over 40 publications in peer reviewed journals, mostly involving cataract surgery technology. Without funding from ARCS, much of this research would not have been possible. He mentors and teaches residents and fellows training them in the nuances of clinical and surgical ophthalmology. He focuses on cataract surgery, cornea disease, cornea transplantation, and LASIK refractive surgery. Dr. Zaugg resides in Davis County with his lovely wife and 6 children.  Dr. Zaugg (right) is shown with colleagues Dr. Lin (left) and Dr. Mifflin (center) from the Refractive Surgery/Cornea Division.
